AFL9s is the latest craze in WA town
Every Wednesday night, AFL9s players travel down to Sir Ross McLarty Oval, named after the former West Australian Premier, to have a kick of the footy and a bit of a laugh. A few weeks into the competition they are all loving it!
Cadbury AFL9s is the AFL’s newest format and is a fast, free-flowing game that involves 9 players on each team playing on a smaller field. In Pinjarra’s first season they have 12 teams running around the park.
The Pinjarra Football Club who play in the Peel Football League, have added AFL9s to its resume as a way to engage the wider community in its football club and also provide a game for its football players to keep fit over the off-season. The competition manager, Broc Agnew said ‘it is a great way to get the community involved and it’s good to see the girls out there having a kick’. Cadbury AFL9s runs all year round throughout Perth and Western Australia.
